| 05-04-04 "The Cult of One" OF COURSE - THIS IS WRITTEN "TONGUE IN CHEEK" - DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET! I have had a epiphany! Half of people I've told think I'm crazy (delusions of grandeur), and the other half want to join - I THINK (someday, maybe????) I am going to start my own cult!!!! And why not???, I've already got approximately 1500 acres of land in Tennessee (pics coming soon) pegged for the "compound". I'll recruit people disenchanted with today's material lifestyles, and wanting to live where creativity, intelligence, and expressing one's individuality are traits to be valued. And I won't even try to change your religious beliefs!!!! So I guess "cult" might be too strong a word, - we would just be a group, thinking on the same "wavelength", seeking a convergence of thoughts and ideas - a "extended retreat" might be a better description! Definition of Cult - 5. a : great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, or work (as a film or book); especially : such devotion regarded as a literary or intellectual fad b : a usually small group of people characterized by such devotion (Webster's) My Cult Intro: "Have you ever felt like you were trapped in a cage, with no chance or avenue of escape? Have you ever felt like was suffocating you and happiness was an emotion that you had to fake? I think we all have at some point in our lives, and most of us do nothing to rectify the situation until eventually the feeling passes, and while in all reality, things don’t usually get any better, our outlook changes (many times due to prescription drugs that alter the very state of our individuality) and we become willing participants in a very ordinary and unhappy life. We all have had those same feelings of entrapment and slavery to our lifestyles, and while most of us are too duty-bound to undertake more drastic methods, we can finally took advantage of the opportunities available to us to escape the fires of this hell in which we all find ourselves from time to time on our journey toward oblivion. When we look back at our life, we often wonder what would have happened if we had made different choices. Robert Frost’s poem, “The Road Not Taken” comes to mind, but is it really a single road not chosen, one choice? I think our lives more strongly resemble the mazes of a busy intersection rather than a single traffic light, a spider web of complicated decisions, of which any single one, and perhaps all, dramatically affects our futures in ways that we can never imagine. Each intersection we approach holds the possibilities of the triumphs of the life we lived, and regrets of the life we left unlived – the road we didn’t take. If you ever wonder "what might have happened" - if you ever have wanted to be part of something "bigger than just yourself" - join us in the beautiful rolling hills of Tennessee in a place where you will find true happiness and acceptance; you will always feel young and beautiful, and you can reflect on the true meaning of your life and your reason for being. Then may tranquility find you ......' .... I know .... "yada yada yada" .... but I'm still working on it!!! Pretty good, ehhh??? Anybody out there interested? Let me know : ) Help me come up with a name for our group! E-mail me - tdaddy @ auburnfootball.com Right now it shall remain - a "Cult of One"!
